A Home to Keep: DIY!

I love to decorate with FLASHCARDS!

The words can be fun, affirming, and descriptive.

You can find vintage flashcards online, but let me show you how to make them yourself!!

  1. In a word document on your computer type out your selected word, I use font size 72. Center it.

  2. Above it in the right hand corner type "Primer page 3" (or 6 or 9 etc.) That font will be size 14. I can usually fit 3 words on one page of cardstock.

  3. Print out some trial runs until you're happy with the placement then put your cardstock in your computer tray and print.

Tip: I make my flashcards 71/2 " by 3"

I use cream cardstock

Hey, Pumpkin!

My neighbor Dianna showed me these and I loved them. They are so easy to make and will make a wonderful fall decoration or gift! So grab a couple of friends, invite them over for coffee and make a few!

Supplies:

A roll of toilet paper

2/3 yard material - cut in half to measure approximately 24"x22". 2/3 yard of material is enough to make two.

branch or 2-3, cinnamon sticks tied together

wrapped wire, curl around a pencil

2-3 leaves

1 yard coordinating ribbon

pencil

Directions:

  1. Lay out your fabric and place the toilet paper in the center.

  2. Grab one corner of the fabric and tuck it inside the toilet paper roll with the eraser end of a pencil. Slowly work your way around gathering up the fabric and tucking each corner into the roll.

  3. Tie a ribbon around the center of your branch then tuck into it into the center. of your toilet roll. You can glue your branch in if you prefer.

Here is a great way to give a gift - a CANNING jar!

I was giving a friend a tea towel for a gift and decided to gift it in a canning jar! It's so quick and easy. I found the darling fork at a favorite antique store.

It's so easy to roll up a recipe and attach it to the jar as well. With the holidays coming up it would make a great hostess gift!
