A Home to Keep: DIY! Textured Torn Edged Card

Looking for a way to use up your paper and fabric scraps? A thoughtful gesture for any occasion or a fun invitation torn edged paper scraps is easier than you think. A handmade card can carry a lot of meaning for those supportive moments when you want to wish someone well.

Supply Suggestions:
Scrapbook paper, parchment paper, vellum, brown paper bag, tissue paper.
Pages with wording on it from hymnals, magazines, old books. A child's drawings (photocopied of course). Maps. Sheet music. Tear the edges of your paper supplies.
Tip: Your sewing machine will sew thinner papers easier.
Photos printed on paper add a personal touch.
Torn fabric strip.
Embellishments: buttons, ribbons.

Directions:
Thread your sewing machine with matching thread.
Layer different papers to see what you like.
Once your papers are in place sew them together on the left side to stabalize. (see photo). This stitch won't show once you sew the fabric strip on.

Place your fabric strip on the left top side of your textured papers covering your previous stiching.
Hold in place and stitch twice making them uneven for an artistic scrappy look.
If you'd like to add a tuck in your fabric strip just crimp a small fold in your fabric and hold in place with the point of your scissors, then sew.
Cut off any excess material.
