Light of Christmas

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works,

and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Matthew 5:16

My husband and I are thanking the Lord for the Lord's faithfulness this last year. We were all given so many opportunities to trust, rest and praise Him. One of our favorite verses has been, “And He will be the stability of your times.” Isaiah 33:6.

Have you noticed people are longing for truth and good news? Aren’t we all in need of a good report, a message of hope? In Numbers 13:1-33 ten spies returned from the land of Canaan with little faith in the doom and gloom report they gave. Joshua and Caleb brought back a good report and believed that God would help them succeed. God is calling us to His Good News and to shine His light in this world. Perhaps it is precisely in the dark days of a year like this that we will see the light like never before.

David Jeremiah shares, “Be the light in someone else’s darkness.” I love that. There is a whole lot of darkness out there that sure could use our light. Let’s be Joshua’s and Caleb’s this Christmas season bringing the good news of Jesus Christ. Jesus is a joy bringer! “Behold, the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people. For unto us this day in the town of David is born a Savior” Luke 2:10

For some cheer and fun I am having a DRAWING for this beautiful Christmas mug. Just leave a comment of a favorite Christmas memory to be in the draw!

Hi Linda,

One favorite Christmas memory is the kids and I taking our assortment of homemade Christmas cookies on festive paper plates to neighbors.

Thanks for sharing that Sharon. I think many stories can be told of this last year as well, one we wouldn't pick for ourselves and yet our good Savior has forged moments that standout of neighbors helping, family coming to the rescue, kind words, a timely phone call. All at the moving of His hand.

My favorite Christmas memory turned out to be the year that a recession hit and there was no work to be found. We were five months behind on our mortgage and we were eating oatmeal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We sat our children down and told them we couldn't buy any presents or even a Christmas tree this year because we couldn't afford it. Our Adam, who was 8 years old ran upstairs and brought down his piggy bank and gave it to us...he wanted to help. We loved his giving heart ❤️! Instead of focusing on buying and rushing around that Christmas was spent focusing on the REASON FOR THE SEASON! JESUS. It turned out to …
