Mixing Bowl: Recipes! Thanksgiving Pie
“Show hospitality to one another." 1 Peter 4:9
The pilgrims could only dream of these sorts of fixin's during the first Thanksgiving, and it's a good thing too; they might've spent all their time with this inventive pie, made up of Thanksgiving leftovers, and forgotten about that 'discovering a new land' idea altogether.

You'll want to pick Sherry's cookbook up as it's filled with the likes of Plump Chicken and Hearty Beef Pot Pie, Heavenly Deep-dish French Onion Pie, and Spinach Bacon Cheese Quiche, to name a few.
For the Crust:
Two 9-inch unbaked pie crusts
Ingredients for pie:
12 oz. thick-sliced boneless turkey breast
2 cups buttered mashed potatoes
2 cups turkey gravy, divided
1/2 cup cranberry sauce
2 cups prepared herb seasoned stuffing
1/4 teaspoon cracked black pepper
Ingredients for egg wash:
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. water
Preheat oven to 350F.
Line a pie plate with an unbaked crust.
Place turkey in the bottom of the crust. Cover with mashed potatoes. Pour 1 cup of the gravy over the turkey/mashed potatoes. Add a layer of cranberry sauce. Pour on remaining gravy. Sprinkle with pepper.
Cover with top crust and flute the edges.
Combine egg yolk and water in a small dish for egg wash. With a small pastry brush apply to the top unbaked pie crust just before placing in the oven, applying the wash too soon will make your crust soggy. Brush the wash into all the nooks and crannies of your crust. Score the top of your crust.
Place pie plate on a baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
Psalm 95: 1-3
"Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods."
