“A rest-less work style produces a restless person. We do not rest because our work is done; we rest because God commanded it and created us to have a need for it.”

Devotion
“Since today’s focus from Genesis 41:1-16 is one of hope and deliverance let’s not forget how hopeless the situation seemed to be in chapter 40. The cupbearer had forgotten and failed Joseph. There he remained for two more years but God never left him, nor did God stop working on Joseph’s behalf. Joseph’s hardships in prison were refining him so he could clearly reflect God in the palace. He was learning that God was faithful when no one else was.
Two years later Pharaoh had two dreams that trouble him. His interpreters were called but they once again fall short. It was then that the Lord refreshed the cupbearer’s memory about Joseph’s abilities. Genesis 41:14 tells us, “Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him quickly out of the dungeon…” Notice the word quickly. Joseph’s suffering in prison would end in an instant. The trying season had dissolved into deliverance, and it was time for Joseph to do what God had been preparing him for all along - Joseph interprets the dreams.
In Genesis 41:37-57 Pharaoh quickly recognizes God’s favor on Joseph and promotes him. God is blessing and prospering Joseph precisely in the place that had once caused him great pain! God will not waste your pain. In fact God specializes in sowing seeds into the soil of our hardship, seeds that bring forth prolific life and bear fruit in season.” (Excerpts from Finding God Faithful by Kelly Minter.)

Pause Question: How do you see God using your current circumstances to prepare you for what’s ahead?
