- Encouragement for Every Reason & Season -
"You are the friend that feels like home."
Can you feel the chill in the air? Here on the Central Coast of California we can. As our thoughts turn towards sweater weather and cozy evenings I'm all about casting out the net, no we're not going fishing, but it is time to gather in wouldn't you say? It's certainly a Season of Welcome. Time to invite family over, meet for coffee, maybe have a special FriendsKeeping Brunch, (it's not just for Thanksgiving) to thank friends that have been there for you!
"Provide a space where people feel warmly welcomed."
Why gather? Why make the effort when it takes time and preparation? Today's mindset can easily frame hospitality and serving others around convenience, weighing the payoff with the effort. But Jesus always made time for people, for the hungry, hurting and overlooked.
"Mistakes are forgiven and love is extended."
We provide a space and prepare a gathering because this is where we celebrate and warmly welcome each other. It's where we encourage, extend value and connect. It's where friendships are nurtured, mistakes are forgiven and love is extended. It's where we share Jesus with others.

“This was the intimate moment Jesus was waiting for.
Jesus waited for their welcome.
He’s waiting for your welcome today too. ”
A Sunday Pie Social (Psst, it's not what you think)
Need a little push, a little jumpstart? Here's a great idea to get your sweeter than pumpkin pie hospitality going, why not send out a little invite for a Sunday Pie Social? Have everyone bring a pie to share - but it's not a dessert pie I'm thinking of. "When people think of pie, they think of dessert - and who could blame them? But the savvy baker never forgets that savory pie that welcomes, satisfies and fills up." So says Sherry Gore in her cookbook, Me, Myself, and Pie, More than 100 Simple & Delicious Amish Recipes."
Here's a suggestion she makes that I love, "Why not break with tradition this year and use those Thanksgiving leftovers to make a meat pie?"
